Threshold

4/17/02

The monotony was blinding
The road, the heat, the hours
The clock crept ahead like a weathered grandfather
Climbing a ladder into Purgatory

Sun, clouds, rain
All blending into gray

Confining spaces crawling closer
In empty lands of crisp burnt waste

A zombie pushed through the day
By the void of instinct
I drive to eat the distance
To make up lost time

Striving forward,
Nothing else was known
Relief not in sight
Relief never experienced

Then, pushed ahead into something new
Something amazing and beautiful,
A jewel in this waste

Could this be relief?

Heat to cool, gray to blue
Brown to green, death to life

Sadness to love

The confining spaces flee in fright
In a land of peace
A land of beauty
A land of grace.
